Assimilation

Assimilation at the individual level occurs when the individual abandons his/her own culture in favor of the host culture and society

Separation

When individuals reject or abandon the host culture and society in favor of preserving their original culture

Integration

Integration occurs when individuals are able to adopt the cultural norms of the host culture while maintaining their culture of origin

Marginalization

Marginalization occurs when individuals reject both their culture of origin and the dominant host culture
